Can you imagine being one of the biggest stars on the planet, starring in one of the most famous movies ever made, and then just… never watching it? Well, that is exactly what Leonardo DiCaprio just admitted. In a move that has left fans absolutely stunned, the Oscar winner recently confessed that he has never sat down to rewatch the 1997 classic, Titanic.

The bombshell dropped during a casual “Actors on Actors” session for Variety, where Leo was catching up with his former Don’t Look Up co-star, Jennifer Lawrence. When Lawrence popped the question that everyone assumed the answer to—”Have you rewatched Titanic?”—Leo didn’t even hesitate. “No. I haven’t seen it before,” he replied.

Naturally, J-Law was just as shocked as we are. She immediately went into “best friend” mode, urging him to give it a go. “Oh, you should,” she told him. “I bet you could watch it now, it’s so good.” But Leo seems pretty set in his ways. He explained his stance with a simple question back to her: “I don’t really watch my films, do you?”

Interestingly, while most of us have seen Jack Dawson sink into the Atlantic at least a dozen times, the man who played him prefers to leave the past in the past. He mentioned that he and Kate Winslet “never predicted that it would be what it was” when they were filming the James Cameron epic. To him, the whole thing was “very much an experiment.”

That being said, Leo isn’t totally against his own filmography. He did admit that there is one movie he has revisited more than the others: The Aviator. He shared that it holds a special place in his heart because “it was the first time as an actor I got to feel implicitly part of the production, rather than just an actor hired to play a role.”

Still, for the millions of fans who grew up with a Titanic poster on their wall, it’s wild to think that Leo hasn’t shared in the collective sob-fest. Maybe one day he’ll finally give in, grab some popcorn, and realize what we’ve known for decades—that movie is a masterpiece.
