Leonardo DiCaprio Loves Pupusas

In a recent promotional interview for Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt‘s new film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the actors were asked if they really liked Mexican food.

Pitt replied: “You can’t live in Los Angeles and not love that food.”

While Leo objected to his partner and said: “I prefer pupusas,” disagreeing with Pitt. “Better than tacos to me, I gotta go with them.”

The interviewer quickly clarified that pupusa dish is of Salvadoran origin.

It’s not clear whether he thought pupusas were part of Mexican cuisine, but it kind of looks that way.

Pupusas are a thick corn tortilla often stuffed with cheese, refried beans or meat.

Following Leo’s comment, thousands of people reacted to DiCaprio’s comment, one of them has been the New York congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
