Matthew McConaughey is convinced heโ€™ll be eaten by an alligator.

The โ€˜Dallas Buyers Clubโ€™ actor has had dreams about his demise and has โ€œa feelingโ€ he will lose his life โ€œas part of the food chainโ€, but insisted heโ€™d prefer to die as part of the โ€œnatural orderโ€, rather than in a random accident or a targeted assault.

Speaking on the New York Timesโ€™ โ€˜Swayโ€™ podcast, he said: โ€œI got a feeling that Iโ€™m going down as part of the food chain.โ€

Host Kara Swisher said: โ€œWhat do you mean? A bear eats you?โ€

He replied: โ€œIt was โ€“ the dream was gators.โ€

But Matthew admitted heโ€™d also had a dream where he was taken out by a bear and added: โ€œIโ€™d much rather go down that way than getting โ€• getting shot down in a drive-by. You know, Iโ€™ll take one where itโ€™s part of the natural order. Thereโ€™s some grace in that.

โ€œIt may be ugly and painful and bloody, but at least itโ€™s part of the natural order. And for that, Iโ€™ll purchase. And after Iโ€™m gone, I hope to say I partook.โ€

The 51-year-old star โ€“ who has three children with wife Camila Alves โ€“ recently revealed he likes to go travelling in order to get perspective on his life and reflect on his decisions.

He said: โ€œWhat travel does is you bounce out and all of a sudden you get to look at it, and you get to read the legato. You get to get the big machinations of how the movements were. โ€˜Wait a minute, where am I in my life?โ€™

โ€œIโ€™m leaving what I know to find what I maybe need to know. Itโ€™s changing the channel. It opens the aperture to a different light. You actually get objective and look back at what you did in a way that you cannot see when youโ€™re subjectively in it hammering the road every day. So, you get a second perspective.

โ€œSometimes you go, โ€˜I did exactly what I wanted to do.โ€™ Most times I go, โ€˜Eh, well what I wanted to do and what I intended to do actually is not quite what I did, but hey hopefully itโ€™s close enough.'โ€
