The Nancy Guthrie case just got a major update—and the FBI is putting significantly more money on the table.

Federal investigators announced Thursday (February 12, 2026) they’ve doubled the reward to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Savannah Guthrie‘s missing mother or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance. That’s up from the $50,000 they were offering just days ago.

But more importantly, the FBI is now sharing new details about the person they’re officially calling a suspect. After what they describe as a “forensic analysis of the doorbell camera footage,” investigators have determined they’re looking for a male who is “approximately 5’9″ – 5’10” tall, with an average build.” In the chilling video recovered from Nancy Guthrie’s home, he’s wearing “a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.”

That backpack detail is actually more significant than it might seem. The Ozark Trail brand is a Walmart exclusive, which means it can only be purchased new at that retailer. Former FBI executive assistant director for intelligence Joshua Skule told CNN that “the height and the backpack are very good clues,” explaining that investigators will now “look at that volume and they’ll start to work backwards and narrowing it down to include the sales in the immediate area of Tucson and then broadening it.”

The 84-year-old grandmother was last seen on January 31 when she was dropped off at her Tucson home after dinner. Her doorbell camera disconnected at 1:47 a.m. the next morning—right around the time investigators believe she was abducted.

“We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving,” the FBI Phoenix office said in their statement. And they’re getting plenty of tips: more than 13,000 have flooded in since February 1.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has also confirmed they’ve recovered “several items of evidence,” including gloves that appear similar to those worn by the suspect in the doorbell footage. Those items are currently being analyzed for DNA.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Thursday that investigators have “good leads” in the case, though there’s still no indication of where Nancy Guthrie might be. FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox News earlier this week that investigators have “made substantial progress in these last 36 to 48 hours” and are examining multiple persons of interest.

Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings continue making emotional pleas on social media. “Someone out there recognizes this person,” Savannah wrote on Instagram alongside images of the masked suspect. “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”
