Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the inaugural image from their live-action Masters of the Universe adaptation, showcasing Nicholas Galitzine wielding the iconic Power Sword as He-Man.

Though Galitzineโ€™s face remains hidden, the image highlights his impressively muscular He-Man physique. The decision to set this adaptation on Earth rather than the mystical realm of Eternia has dampened some fansโ€™ enthusiasm for the project.

The narrative positions Adam as an everyday individual with a mundane office position in our contemporary world. The Masters of the Universe mythology exists only as childhood stories in his memory.

The leaked synopsis reads: โ€œ10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Swordโ€”the only link to his home on Eternia.

โ€œAfter tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.

โ€œBut to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!โ€

At the helm is director Travis Knight, with a stellar cast including Camila Mendes portraying Teela, Alison Brie (Community) as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba (Luther) embodying Man-At-Arms, and Jared Leto (Blade Runner 2049) taking on the role of Skeletor.

The ensemble also features Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.

The screenplay comes from Chris Butler (ParaNorman), building upon an earlier version by David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).
