In an unexpected turn of events, rapper Nicki Minaj was detained in Amsterdam while on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Authorities claimed she had marijuana in her luggage.

Minaj captured much of the incident on her social media platforms. She posted footage showing her being placed in a police vehicle holding cell. In an Instagram Live video, Minaj is seen conversing with a police officer who accused her of possessing drugs.

“I’m not carrying drugs,” Minaj firmly stated in the video. “I’m not going in there; I need a lawyer present. I need a lawyer present now. Where am I going?” The officer replied that she would be taken to the police station and assured her they would coordinate to ensure she got to her next show in Manchester. “What am I doing? Oh, so I’m under arrest? Under arrest for what?” Minaj questioned.

Authorities soon demanded that she stop filming, after which she was placed in the holding cell. While details of her time at the police station remain unclear, Minaj was reportedly released from detainment. Fans confirmed on social media that she arrived in Manchester for her concert at Co-Op Live this evening.

Representatives for Minaj did not respond to Variety’s request for comment.

Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the incident as it unfolded. She alleged that authorities searched her luggage without consent and did not allow her to see her bags. “They’re being paid big money to try to sabotage my tour because so many people are mad that it's this successful, and they can’t profit from me,” she wrote. “They got caught stealing money from my travel/jets. Got fired. Got mad. Etc.”

Police claimed to have found marijuana in her bags, which Minaj said belonged to one of her security guards. “Now they said they found weed and that another group of people have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls,” Minaj explained, noting that while marijuana is legal in Amsterdam, it is illegal to transport it into or out of the Netherlands. “Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them that those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh yeah, and the pilot wants me to take my IG post down.”

Minaj is continuing her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, slated to run through Europe until July.
