The fabulous Nina West has been traversing the country on the national tour of Hairspray, and on Tuesday (May 02, 2023), a cavalcade of celebrities attended the opening night of the show’s run at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater (marking the 20th anniversary of the beloved musical.)
Some of the stars spotted on the event pink carpet included Mad Men’s Jared Harris, Ming Na Wen, Scott Evans, Lance Bass, Bobby Berk, Alec Mapa, Frankie Grande, Todrick Hall, Adam Shankman, Fortune Feimster and Dustin Milligan.

Of course, there were some Drag Race queens in attendance, including Shangela, Trixie Mattel, Raja, Eureka O’Hara, Scarlet Envy, Morgan McMichaels, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Angeria Paris Van Michaels, Mariah Paris Balenciaga, Monét X Change and Kornbread, who posted about the experience on a sweet Twitter thread.

People ask me “when did you realize your gender identity” and I could never give a solid answer until now. I got to see Nina in Hairspray tonight as Edna (flawless) and it unlocked a joyous moment in my life I was forced to suppress as a kid! *continue down below* pic.twitter.com/A4JL4Ebeh3
The event served as a Hairspray reunion, as OG Tracy Turnblad, Ricki Lake was joined by Hairspray Live‘s Maddie Baillio, Carly Jibson from the original Hairspray tour, and the current tour’s Tracy, Niki Metcalfe. The Tracys met with Andrew Levitt (a/k/a Nina West) who is delivering a winning performance as Edna Turnblad backstage at intermission for a photo op, the first time all these Tracys have been in one room together.

You can still catch Hairspray in LA until May 21. After that, the tour heads to Atlanta, Omaha, Austin and Tempe. You can get your tickets here.
