The much-anticipated period piece, History of Sound, led by the charismatic duo Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor, has finally kicked off its filming — and not a moment too soon! This revelation has sent waves of excitement across the cinematic universe. To all the dedicated movie enthusiasts out there, brace yourselves for a love story set against the tumultuous backdrop of World War I.

Back in 2021, the air buzzed with anticipation when director Oliver Hermanus spilled the beans to Variety, proclaiming, “Paul and Josh are two of the most electrifying actors of their generation… This is an unexpected love story that the world desperately needs to witness.”

After a suspenseful year devoid of updates, the curtain was finally lifted at the dawn of January by @FilmUpdates on X (formerly Twitter), announcing that the project was gearing up for a March commencement. True to their word, with just two days remaining in February, it's official — “The History of Sound” is in motion!

Prepare to be transported into the lives of Lionel (portrayed by Mescal) and David (played by O'Connor) as they endeavor to capture the essence of American life through the sounds of its countrymen during the First Great War. This venture promises to alter the fabric of their young lives forever, leaving us on the edge of our seats.

Amidst ongoing discussions about casting straight actors in LGBTQ+ roles, both leading men bring a wealth of experience to the table, having portrayed gay characters in critically acclaimed performances. O'Connor shined as a gay farmer in God’s Own Country (2017), while Mescal mesmerized audiences as Harry in All of Us Strangers alongside Andrew Scott.
