The first images from the upcoming Gladiator 2 sequel have arrived!
The images depict Paul Mescal‘s Lucius, Pedro Pascal‘s General Acacius, Denzel Washington‘s Macrinus, who is an arms dealer, Joseph Quinn‘s Emperor Geta, Fred Hechinger‘s Emperor Caracalla, and Connie Nielsen‘s Lucilla.
In Vanity Fair‘s exclusive, Paul was asked about the film. He said, “What human beings will do to survive, but also what human beings will do to win. We see that in the arena, but also in the political struggle that’s going on outside of my character’s storyline, where you see there’s other characters striving and pulling for power. Where’s the space for humanity? Where’s the space for love, familial connection? And ultimately, will those things overcome this kind of greed and power? Those things are oftentimes directly in conflict with each other.”
The Ridley Scott-directed sequel to the 2000 action film will be released in theaters on November 22, 2024.
