Not since Vanessa Vanjie Mateo left us with the most meme-worthy sashay in her-story has a Drag Race queen brought something so unique to the runway as Discord Addams and her signature strut. Many Drag Race fans (myself included) felt like she got a raw deal from the judges this season (especially with her fabulous Snatch Game Pope) and, sadly, after a fabulous cowboy makeover (that a blind person could see the family resemblance in), she faced Nini Coco in a lip-sync that sent her home. This fan favorite queen (judging from the comments I have seen splashed across social media) is going to be a shoo-in for All Stars (fingers crossed) after her “exit interviews” this week with Michelle Visage and Onya Nurve.
On Whatcha Packin’?, Discord chats with Michelle about finding punk in Akron, Ohio, the importance of music in her life and her rock star aspirations, the early era Drag Race queen who influenced her the most (shouldn’t be much of a surprise) and her out of drag day job (also shouldn’t be much of a surprise). Of course, the interview wouldn’t be complete without learning the origin of her infamous walk and the unconventional way she learned to achieve it. She also shares a few of the gorgeous looks she and her partner created together, including the pinstriped punk glam suit she got to showcase, a safety pin covered gown, and a “hooker clown” look slated to be a reveal that we didn’t get to see (she also has the absolute coolest handbag I have ever seen.)
And, on Hello Hello Hello, the punk rock powerhouse runs through her latest audition tape with Onya Nurve (as she tried out “9 or 10 times” previously). She also talks about leaving Cleveland for Tampa, being a resourceful designer (she says she spent about $1,000 for her whole season’s package) what she doesn’t like about drag (and it’s more than just ice skating outfits and ripped fishnets). We also get to see her Edgar Allen Poe Snatch Game character (I am glad she went with the Pope and her reads of Drag Race alums including Bosco and Jan. Onya also puts her through a quick fire Q&A about the current cast. I am going to miss Discord. I had hoped she’d make the final four but I am sure the isn’t the last we’ll see of this talented queen.
