A sneak peek at the upcoming Free Guy features an enormously built Ryan Reynolds playing an improved version of his own milquetoast bank teller character, Guy.

The actor used a video on his YouTube channel to poke fun at the Hollywood fitness industrial complex by pulling back the curtain and give a behind-the-scenes look at Dude, a muscle-bound bad guy who appears to be a major obstacle for Reynolds’ protagonist in the film.

Dude isn’t just big. He’s jacked, or you might even call him swole or yolked. And Dude is supposed to be Reynolds—at least that’s how he’s credited in the trailer.

Alternating between clips from the movie and a mock interview with Reynolds’ gargantuan “Dude” character, a.k.a. “Catchphrase,” the teaser presents an absurdist look at film production from the musclebound star’s point of view.

The video comes just days before the film’s release in theaters, an event that has been rescheduled three times since its initial date in June 2020.

The action-comedy also stars Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer and Stranger ThingsJoe Keery as the programmers who make Guy self-aware. Comer’s character teams up with Guy inside the game to try and reform it. Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok) stars as the game’s publisher who is trying to stop them.

Waititi creates Dude with his team, calling him “perfect”. IMDb lists bodybuilder-turned-actor Aaron W Reed as Dude in the cast list, but it seems Reed only plays Dude from the neck-down.

There will also reportedly be cameos from Hugh Jackman, John Krasinski, Tina Fey, and Dwayne Johnson, alongside a number of famous gamers and streamers. Plus, it will feature a posthumous appearance from the late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek.
