In a powerful moment of authenticity, singer Khalid has embraced his truth after being outed on social media, making it clear that he’s totally comfortable with who he is and was never trying to hide anything.
The talented 26-year-old artist addressed the situation on Friday (Nov. 22, 2024) through X after Hugo D Almonte, another musician, shared a photo of them together and revealed private details about an alleged intimate encounter between them.
With confidence, Khalid posted a rainbow flag emoji and wrote: “there yall go. next topic please lol.” When a fan directly asked if he was gay, he responded with beautiful simplicity: “I am! And that’s okay.”
The chart-topping artist, who captured hearts with hits like “Love Lies” featuring Normani in 2017 and “Eastside” with Halsey and Benny Blanco in 2018, continued connecting with fans on the platform, emphasizing that while his sexuality wasn’t hidden, it was simply his private business.
“I got outted and the world still continues to turn [sic],” shared the Grammy-nominated performer. “Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me.”
When a fan shared a clip of his 2022 song “Satellite”, calling it an “LGBTQ+ anthem”, Khalid warmly responded: “thank you!!!! I was never hiding.”

The situation sparked backlash against Almonte for his role in the outing, with MNEK, the queer British singer and producer, calling him out on social media. Almonte, who has around 744 monthly Spotify listeners, faced criticism from various corners.
“loser Loser LOSER LOSER behaviour,” MNEK posted, tagging Almonte, following up with: “i don’t like that sh*t, that’s so WHACCCCCKKKKKKK.”
The Texas-born star has made his mark with five UK Top 40 hits, including the number-one hit “Eastside” in 2018. His journey began with American Teen in 2017, and his latest album Sincere dropped in August this year.
