On October 4, EGGtoberfest, Big Green Egg’s large, annual outdoor grilling event, took place at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. The event featured a spectacular culinary showcase with delicious bites from home cooks, renowned pitmasters, Michelin-starred chefs, and junior cooks all demonstrating skills, recipes, and techniques on the popular grill.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of samples, from savory items like sausage, tacos, and Wagyu sushi to sweet treats, including creamy pecan bread pudding and crispy chocolate chip cookies. Complementing the food, guests sampled craft cocktails from Bib & Tucker Bourbon.
The brand’s The Classic Six and Double Char bourbons were the stars of two enticing sips:
- The Steam Engine: featuring Benedictine and bitters.
- The Southern-Inspired Peach Palmer: blending the smooth bourbon with peach tea and lemonade, making it a perfect nod to Georgia.
Classic Six is aged for a minimum of six years in American white oak barrels. Each sip offers a scent of vanilla and sweet hay, accented by sandalwood and mace, and finishes smoothly on the palate with a hint of pecan pie sweetness.
Bib & Tucker Double Char undergoes a two-step aging process: first, six years in new white American oak in Tennessee, followed by a minimum of five months in a second, heavily charred and smoked new barrel. This spirit delights the nose with a touch of smoke, immediate notes of toasted oak and dulce de leche, and background notes of cinnamon and clove. It’s delightful in cocktails or on its own, offering flavors of vanilla and sugar maple surrounded by white smoke, hints of sweet corn, and toasted cinnamon.
