Hello, hello, hello! It has been a busy week in the world of drag and we are here to make sure you don’t miss a thing! This week, we met the queens from the Great White North competing to become Canada’s Next Drag Superstar and received news of even more upcoming drag from around the world. Also, with Halloween on the horizon, lots of queens are getting into the spirit, including Delta Work, Jaymes Mansfield, Gottmik and Violet Chachki. All treats, no tricks! Let’s bring it to the runway!
This week, we got to meet the 11 lovely queens competing for the crown on season four of Canada’s Drag Race. They are: Aimee Yonce Shennel, Aurora Matrix, Denim, Kiki Coe, Kitten Kaboodle, Luna DuBois, Melinda Verga, Nearah Nuff, Sisi Superstar, The Girlfriend Experience, and Venus.
Queen of the North Brooke Lynn Hytes, celebrity stylist and TV personality Brad Goreski, and ETALK senior correspondent Traci Melchor return as resident judges, and are once again joined by guest judges and special guests throughout the season. Season four of Canada’s Drag Race premieres Thursday, November 16 at 9 pm ET on WOW Presents Plus
Can’t get enough of international drag? World of Wonder announced that Drag Race France, Drag Race Philippines and Drag Race Thailand will each return for a third season. The upcoming series Drag Race Philippines and Drag Race Thailand will be available to stream on WOW Presents Plus globally and Drag Race France will be available on WOW Presents Plus in all territories outside of France.
Coming on the heels of a highly successful second season, which was the first European franchise to record its finale in front of an audience and received average audience figures per episode of 810,000 in France alone on France 2 and France.tv, Drag Race France will be inviting a new set of queens to compete for the chance to snatch the crown in 2024.
The news that Drag Race Philippines will return for a third season comes after Captivating Katkat was crowned the winner of Season 2 earlier this month (Season 1 and 2 are available to stream on WOW Presents Plus). Drag Race Thailand is back with a bang after crowning their last Drag Superstar back in 2019. The fan-favorite edition of the series will return next year on the search for the next Thai superstar.
Commenting on the newly announced renewals, World of Wonder co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato said: “It's such an honor to share that three countries with three unique takes on the art of drag will be producing their third seasons of Drag Race. We are so grateful to our producer partners, channels and, above all, the artists whose boundless charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent results in a show that is unique to every Nation and for the entire world to enjoy.”
Last week on Drag Race UK, the queens tested their singing chops in the girl group challenge. Our “Binge Queens”, Kennedy Davenport, Lawrence Chaney, Cheryl Hole and Blu Hydrangea give us a sneak peek of the drama and looks. Watch full episodes on WOW Presents Plus.
Danny Beard speaks with the latest queen who had to sashay away on Drag Race UK on “The After Shave with Danny Beard.”
Let’s get into some spooky fun. In honor of the upcoming holiday, Raven, Morgan McMichaels, Mayhem Miller, and Mariah toot and boot some of their fellow Drag Racers’ Halloween look on “Fashion Photo Ruview.” Who was best dressed? I vote for Pandora Boxx.
I love nothing more than watching people get terrified in haunted houses. What’s even better is when it’s Violet Chachki and Gottmik. On the latest “No Gorge”, the pair take us through the haunted houses at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights and their reactions are truly hilarious.
Alaska and Willam do a little season 13 cosplay, paying tribute to season 13 on Race Chaser. Watch Willam channel Mackie doll Kamora Hall and Alaska give us her best tribute to Tina Burner’s silver tin man look.
Want more of Alaska and Willam? The pair have treated us to a special video episode of “Hot Goss” with Alaska cosplaying what Liza Minelli would look like if she had appeared in Cats and Willam serves Detox at the Limelight. They discuss Alaska’s recent injury, the legacy of Willam’s drag mother, and the difference between two very different Hell’s Kitchens. Plus, a journey into the DM’s to give some advice about gifts between lovers and drag family values.
If you’re crafty (I am not) and need a cool Halloween look, why not watch and learn from Willam as he creates a hand bra (perfect for some Janet Jackson cosplay) on “Crafternoonting.”
Juno Birch trades her traditional blue foundation for a green one as she transforms herself into the Wicked Witch of the West.
Jaymes Mansfield is back with another wig (and beard) makeover. Who knew anything from Party City could look so good?
Delta Work serves Tiffany from Child’s Play realness as she chats with Cheryl Hole on “Very Scary Delta.”
Luxx Noir London takes us on a tour of her New Jersey home and fabulous drag looks on the latest “Out of the Closet.”
Catch up with Sugar and Spice in their latest (chaotic) vlog.
“Look at Huh!” is back for a ninth season! Get to know more about one queen who sashayed away way too soon, season 15’s Irene the Alien (formerly Irene DuBois), as she chats with Jonny McGovern and spills tea on some of her fellow queens.
Priyanka is back with a new vlog. Here, she takes us along to the 2021 Canadian Country Music Awards.
On Laganja Estranja’s latest blog, our favorite green queen takes us behind the scenes at May’s RuPaul’s DragCon.
With Bob currently touring the world with Madonna, Kim Chi is filling in as Monét’s co-host on this week’s “Sibling Rivalry.”
Marcia Marcia Marcia and Luxx Noir London are just two of the 57 queens taking part in a unique photo shoot. Drag performer and creative director Missleidy Rodriguez created “Drag Story Time” to prove that there's nothing dangerous about the fantasy of drag. Missleidy told them, “Drag Story Time, which sees drag performers transformed into favorite fairy tale characters, is a visual protest in response to the anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric that we are seeing across the world.
In the US, so many government officials have not only demonized us through words but made it their sole mission to eradicate queer and trans individuals from public life through harmful legislation. One of the talking points that I've found incredibly childish—pun intended—is the backlash to ‘Drag Story Hour’ events.”
And that wraps up our latest update from your favorite queens. Until next week, as always, stay safe, stay healthy, support the queens and say LOVE!
