Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to another roundup of news and updates from the world of RuPaul’s Drag Race!
The premiere of the eighth season of All Stars is coming soon, and we check in with the queen-testants hoping to snatch the crown. We also check in with our current reigning champion and some of our favorite content creators.
Yours truly has been under the weather all week, so this update might be a bit brief, but it’s still packed with lots of charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent. Let’s get into it and let’s bring it to the runway!
This week, a new trailer for the upcoming eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars was released, revealing a new twist. Mama Ru has upped the game this season, with the eliminated queens competing for the title of “Queen of the Fame Games” and a $50,000 prize. Viewers will get to vote on the queen’s unused runway looks that will be showcased online and on Untucked. The trailer also revealed some of the season’s guest judges, including Zooey Deschanel, Bowen Yang, and Idina Menzel. The new season premieres May 12 on Paramount+.
The cast of All Stars sat down with Joey Nolfi from Entertainment Weekly and spill all sorts of tea. Enjoy these sit-downs with Kandy Muse, Jimbo, Kahanna Montrese, Jessica Wild, Jaymes Mansfield, Alexis Michelle, Heidi N Closet, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Naysha Lopez, Monica Beverly Hillz, Darienne Lake and LaLa Ri.
Season one OG Ongina joins Yuhua Hamasaki to talk about the All Stars queens’ promo looks on “Bootleg Opinions”.
Kimora Blac is back! Here she gives us her opinions on the new All Stars.
Trixie Mattel takes a spin and tests her wits against some amazing solves on Wheel of Fortune Can she guess them faster than the contestants? (Really, after watching this, could anyone?)
Trixie and Katya have stolen my heart (and probably many of yours) and on this week’s episode of “UNHhhh”, the topic is theft. The pair discuss robbery, security, what they think is theft-able, Lisa Vanderpump’s robotic swans and more.
The internet has blessed us with the first episode of Behind the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition, a new docu-series that goes behind the scenes of legendary drag queens Alaska Thunderf*ck and Lola LeCroix’s Drag Queen of the Year contest, currently airing on OUTtv. The six-episode series follows Alaska and her creative drag partner Lola as they put together their annual drag pageant to crown the Drag Queen of the Year.
The Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition is returning for its 5th incarnation on Sunday, May 14, 2023 live and in-person at The Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. Tickets are on sale now HERE.
Your new Drag Race champion, Sasha Colby teaches us her 10-minute everyday makeup routine in this video from Allure.
Speaking of season 15, the delightful DeJa Skye (who recently celebrated a birthday…happy birthday!) ranks the fierce lipsyncs from the whole season.
Just another reminder…do NOT miss “Drag Isn’t Dangerous,” the biggest fundraising effort to combat recent anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation to date. The live telethon broadcasts worldwide Sunday, May 7 at moment.co/dangerous.
Along with performances from a packed slate of drag favorites, guests include Ali Wong, Amber Tamblyn, Amy Schumer, Margaret Cho, Sarah Silverman, Leslie Jones, Kelly Osbourne, The Boulet Brothers, Charlize Theron, David Cross, Isaac Mizrahi and tons more. Writer/Actor/Comedian Justin Martindale serves as head writer and co-host alongside Peppermint.
Ticket sales & donations for the telethon have already surpassed $100K since the event was first announced. All net proceeds from the event will be divided among approved charities that support LGBTQIA+ causes and drag performers in need, especially in states where they face discrimination and bans. None of the performers or organizers are taking fees for their work on the campaign. All donations are tax-deductible and 501c3 verification will be available on request. The official pre-show donation page for “Drag Isn’t Dangerous” is at: https://tiltify.com/dangerous. Willam takes us on a tour of his studio and I am just putting it out there that I would love to be a guest if he does “Just Joan” (and I already have my own red wig.)
I do love me a bearded queen, and this video (also from Willam) does not disappoint. Watch as she transforms into “Yosemite Samantha.”
On the latest episode of “Sibling Rivalry”, Bob and Monét talk TikTok, streaming services, PE class and more.
Need more Bob and Monét (better get your fill before Bob hits the road with Madonna)? Catch this week’s “Sibling Advicery”, where the pair offer advice about confronting a partner with bad breath, making the most out of Dragon (coming May 12th!) and more.
Dancing queen Laganga Estranja is also a talented choreographer and put together some amazing routines for “Trixie and Katya Live”. Here, she takes us backstage and allows us to share the magic.
Jan has a podcast? Yes, she does, and I’m so happy. This week on “Unpacked”, Jan and Aja discuss the All Stars promo shoot, getting high, Aja’s music, the ballroom scene and lots more.
We’ve got music from two of your faves to treat your ears. Canada’s Drag Race season one winner, Priyanka, is back with a sweet new single, “Bad Bitches Don’t Cry.”
Jaymes Mansfield has moved on from wig wizardry to music. Check out her debut single, “Estoy Perdida.”
And that’s it for the week! Until we meet again, stay healthy, stay safe and say LOVE!
