Move over, Oscar nominations—Timothée Chalamet just added an entirely different kind of trophy to his collection. The actor scored the coveted “White Boy of the Year” award at NBA star Anthony Edwards‘ first-ever Believe That Awards, and honestly, the internet can’t get enough of it.
The Minnesota Timberwolves guard hosted the satirical awards show on YouTube this week, where Chalamet beat out some serious competition for the tongue-in-cheek title. Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, MrBeast, and Pat McAfee all fell short in the category. Not exactly the kind of lineup you’d expect at the Academy Awards, but that’s what made the whole thing so entertaining.

Since Chalamet is currently busy filming Dune: Part Three in Budapest, he couldn’t show up in person. Instead, he joined via video call, which honestly made the moment even better. The conversation between the two quickly veered into hilarious territory, with topics ranging from their shared love of Training Day to Chalamet pitching a potential reboot with Edwards taking on Denzel Washington‘s iconic role.
Edwards had one condition, though. “I can’t die in the movie. That’s the only thing,” the basketball star joked. Classic.

Later, Timothee Chalamet posted his acceptance speech on Instagram Stories, quoting none other than Gucci Mane. “You can get lost in the Sauce, but without Sauce, you are lost,” he wrote. He added, “That being said, I promise to cherish this award, and to do good inspiring generations of white boys to come to be entirely delusional about their identity and place within the world.”
The show itself was packed with other ridiculous categories too. Shams Charania took home “Reporter of the Year,” Candace Parker won “Woman of the Year,” and somehow Charles Barkley, Noah Lyles, Skip Bayless, and Magic Johnson all managed to share the “Hater of the Year” title.
Beyond all the laughs, the segment actually revealed something interesting about modern pop culture. The chemistry between Edwards and Chalamet showed how much Hollywood and the NBA worlds are crossing over these days. Edwards has been making waves on social media with his personality, while Chalamet continues his hot streak with roles in Dune and his upcoming Christmas release, Marty Supreme.

The White Boy of the Year award might be a joke, but Chalamet’s cultural momentum definitely isn’t. Between his relationship with Kylie Jenner, his vocal New York Knicks fandom, and his pursuit of becoming “one of the greatest of all time,” the actor is everywhere right now.
What started as a silly idea between friends has turned into a viral sensation. Fans flooded social media with clips from the show, calling Edwards one of the funniest people in sports. As for Chalamet, he’s just out here collecting awards—whether they’re golden statues or satirical internet trophies.
