Tom Holland just made history — and it wasn’t the kind he was hoping for.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day star became the first guest in the history of Hot Ones to throw up on camera, and he’s already embracing his new title.
Holland appeared on Thursday’s episode of the YouTube hit alongside his The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day co-star Jon Bernthal, sitting across from host Sean Evans for the show’s notoriously brutal wing gauntlet.
The 30-year-old actor struggled early, reaching for milk between bites and warning that the sauce was “battery acid.” He later admitted, “I feel like I could black out.”
Somehow, Holland powered through all ten wings. But the damage was already done.
As the trio wrapped filming and stood for the outro, Holland began coughing and then keeled over to the ground, throwing up, with the tablecloth conveniently — or mercifully — hiding the actor from view.
Bernthal, ever the supportive co-star, didn’t miss a beat.
“Let’s go!” Bernthal screamed, elated. “Take a picture of that!”
Holland, for his part, bounced back almost instantly, cracking up through the aftermath.
Evans broke the news to Holland that he’d officially entered Hot Ones lore as its first on-camera vomiter — a distinction the show has managed to avoid since it launched in 2015, even through appearances from famously spice-averse guests.
Holland took the milestone in stride.
“I love being the first!” he said, laughing.
He later added, according to the outlet SuperHeroHype, “You can use that.”
Not everyone who’s sat in the Hot Ones hot seat has been so unlucky. Gordon Ramsay reportedly chugged Pepto-Bismol mid-interview specifically to dodge the fate Holland just suffered.
This isn’t Holland’s first rodeo with the show’s Scoville-loaded wing lineup. He previously appeared on Hot Ones back in December 2021, where he candidly predicted his own demise before the cameras even rolled, saying, “I’m okay with spicy food… but I think today is gonna be rather brutal.”
Turns out he was onto something — it just took a second appearance for the prophecy to fully deliver.
Holland and Bernthal’s on-screen chemistry has been a highlight of their press run together, with the pair also swapping stories during the episode about their first film together, 2017’s “Pilgrimage,” including a bit about Bernthal’s failed attempt to go full method by refusing to speak on set.
The two currently share the screen in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, now playing in theaters, and will reunite again when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31.
As for Hot Ones, the show now has a new, if unofficial, hall of fame category — and Holland is its very first, very proud inductee.
