Rumors have been making waves online about an alleged massive salary difference between Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo for their roles in Wicked.

The two stars are headlining the anticipated film adaptation, with Ariana stepping into Glinda's shoes while Cynthia brings Elphaba to life.

Social media was ablaze with unconfirmed claims about their paychecks. The viral rumor suggested Cynthia received $1 million, while Ariana supposedly earned $15 million.

Universal Pictures has now stepped in to set the record straight.

“Reports of pay disparity between Cynthia and Ariana are completely false and based on internet fodder. The women received equal pay for their work on Wicked,” a Universal spokesperson told THR. The site also confirmed via other sources that Cynthia and Ariana were paid equally.
