Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to the Week in Drag and another round of news from the Drag Race universe.
We’ve got exciting news about a much-anticipated event and we’ve finally got our first look at the queens competing to earn the title of Canada’s Next Drag Superstar.
And, as always, we have videos from some of your favorite queens, including Willam, Trixie Mattel, Kayta, Ra’Jah O’Hara and lots more. Let’s get into it and let’s bring it to the runway!
Obviously, our top story of the week is the return of RuPaul’s DragCon. Presented by RuPaul and World of Wonder Productions, RuPaul’s DragCon LA is returning for its 10th in-person convention — bringing charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to the Los Angeles Convention Center for the fiercest year yet. The convention will take place Friday, May 13th – Sunday, May 15th, featuring — for the very first time — a full day of programming on Friday. Tickets are on sale now at RuPaulsDragCon.com.
“I’m so excited that our tribe will be safely reunited once again.” says RuPaul, “RuPaul's DragCon is the most gorgeous, most gagworthy and most life-affirming drag convention on the planet, and our aim is to serve you a super amazing experience, while keeping you as safe as possible.”
“The 2022 LA convention marks the first time ever we will be featuring a full-day of Friday programming for the three-day convention,” says WOW co-founders Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey. “With our last DragCon having been a virtual experience, we are thrilled to be bringing our flagship in-person event back to the community we love so dearly, and rest assured safety will be our top priority!”
The three-day event, the world’s largest all-ages and family-friendly celebration of drag, will feature vendors, exhibitors, panel and Q&A sessions, plus appearances from drag stars including season winners from the past year – Priyanka (Canada’s Drag Race), Kita Mean (Drag Race Down Under), Lawrence Chaney (Drag Race UK), Symone (RuPaul’s Drag Race S13), Kylie Sonique Love (Drag Race All Stars 6), and all your other favorite dazzling queens from across the global award-winning “Drag Race” franchise including Aquaria, Mariah Balenciaga, Alaska, Priyanka, Tammie Brown, Kim Chi, Heidi N Closet, Divina De Campo, Eureka O’Hara, Gigi Goode, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Kameron Michaels, Naomi Smalls, Pandora Boxx, Ariel Versace, Blu Hydrangea, Kahmora Hall, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Scarlet Envy, Nicky Doll, Vivacious, Dusty Ray Bottoms, Baga Chipz, Shuga Cain, Sasha Velour, the United Kingdolls, the Frock Destroyers, and more. Another international Drag Race spinoff is coming soon, and we can’t wait. Canada’s Drag Race returns for its 10-episode sophomore season Thursday, October 14thon WOW Presents Plus in the US and select territories worldwide, day-and-date with its local airing on Crave in Canada.
The twelve fierce and fiery Canadian queens competing to become Canada’s next Drag Superstar are Adriana, Beth, Eve 6000, Gia Metric, Icesis Couture, Kendall Gender, Kimora Amour, Océane Aqua-Black, Pythia, Stephanie Prince, Suki Doll, and Synthia Kiss.
Each episode will test competitors’ talents, and challenge them to master singing, dancing, acting, impersonation, design, and improvisation. One competitor is eliminated at the end of each episode, until one queen is left standing with the crown, scepter, and title of Canada’s next Drag Superstar. Stunning Canadian Drag Race alum Brooke Lynn Hytes is back on the judging panel, which makes this series a “must-see” for sure.
It has been a few weeks since Kylie Sonique Love was crowned as the season 6 All Star winner, but we couldn’t not share this delightful “Ruvealing the Look” featuring top 4 queen Ra’Jah O’ Hara. Watch as she recreates her purple-themed look from the Drag Tots runway. It’s a look that will have you saying “Oh myyy gawwwdddd.”
Since turnabout is fair play, this week Violet Chachki reads Gottmik’s Drag Race looks on the second episode of our new favorite web series, “No Gorge.”
With the temperatures dropping as fall arrives, let’s bid a less-than-fond farewell to summer heat, which happens to be the topic on the latest episode of “UNHhhh” with Trixie and Katya.
Trixie and skincare maven and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Whitney Rose discuss her Iris & Beau line, kiki and get ready together.
I thought I had a lot of purses, but Willam has certainly got me beat. Watch as she shows off her designer bags in this Handbag Haul video that has me adding some new clutches to my wish list.
Are you watching Drag Race Holland? If you’re not, you can catch a glimpse of the fierce runway looks with Alexis Mateo and Rock M. Sakura on “Fashion Photo Ruview.”

Jaymes Mansfied makes over a wig for her Vegas sister Alexis Mateo. She works here magic on a purple wig, turning it into “The Coco”, as in a Coco Montrese-esque pageant look. Watch her create “vintage hair with a modern flair.”
That’s all for this week. In anticipation of season 3 of Drag Race UK, here’s the latest song from returning queen Veronica Green. Enjoy her duet with Myleene Klass, “Nothing to Lose” and until next week, stay healthy, stay safe, get vaccinated and say LOVE!
