One of our favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race alums, Willam, is also one of the busiest queens around. In addition to the “Race Chaser” podcast he hosts with Alaska, a scene-stealing role in A Star is Born, countless YouTube videos (including my personal favorite, “Beatdown”), a fantastic book and a stellar music career, Willam is expanding his ever-growing empire and launching his own makeup line, Coverboy.
The new line features 5 lip varnishes, 4 glitter gellies, and 6 lashes. As far as his inspiration for the collection, Willam told Dazed Beauty that “I wanted to put products into the world that made it easier for people to get the drag experience either full-tilt boogie or just a touch of transvestism. You do you; unless you want to look better… then I would listen to a drag queen!”
Willam took some time out of his busy schedule to answer the “Socialite Seven” with his usual cheeky sense of humor and talked a little more about Coverboy. Check out what he had to say:
Which (if any) makeup artists influenced or inspired you in the creation of Coverboy?
Mathu Andersen had always told me to do my own lips when he painted me because he said nobody could do them better than me (he’s right). I wanted to do something that only further cemented my signature kisser.
Are there any makeup trends you are excited about?
I’m excited for Coverboy because it’s not another big ass palette with 8 tans and a blue.
What three things could you not live without?
Glitter Gellies by Coverboy, my blue lashes in 301&Done & bottom blues in Fiver and my lip varnishes.
If you could offer advice to your younger self knowing what you do now, what would it be?
I would tell myself to start working out earlier in life and to suck more dicks.
Who would you want to play you in the story of your life?
I would want Missi Pyle to play me.
What’s one thing you still want to scratch off your “bucket list”?
I’d like to find my mugshot. I can’t seem to.
