Dwayne Johnson says he was ‘first choice’ for Oscars host, but was too busy on Jumanji

The Rock could have totally rescued the Oscars from its host crisis, action-hero style.

But Dwayne Johnson insists he was too busy on “Jumanji 2” after being the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ top pick to host the Feb. 24 show.

“I was their first choice to host this year,” Johnson said on Twitter Wednesday. “My goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting ‘Jumanji.’ “
