Katy Perry is not playing coy about her feelings for Justin Trudeau — not even a little bit.

The pop star made it crystal clear at the Tribeca Film Festival on Monday (June 8, 2026) that the former Canadian prime minister has completely swept her off her feet. Perry made her red carpet debut with Trudeau at the premiere of her new concert film, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris, at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. And during a post-screening Q&A, she went full romantico in front of the whole room.

“I am very in love,” she told the crowd, adding, “Actually that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that.”

She didn’t stop there.

“I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite. I fly super high and like, you know, touch the veil, cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored. So, to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”

Yep, Katy Perry is absolutely, undeniably smitten.

Perry and Trudeau first sparked romance rumors in July 2025 when they were seen on a walk with a small dog in a park in Montreal, and later spotted grabbing dinner at the neighborhood restaurant Le Violon. A rep for the restaurant told People at the time that the pair “seemed to have had a fantastic evening,” adding that they met Chef Danny Smiles and made their way to the kitchen after the meal to thank the staff personally.

From that low-key Montreal dinner to a Tribeca red carpet — this relationship has moved fast and looks very real.

For the occasion, Perry wore a white halter-neck gown featuring rose-like details with her hair styled in an updo, while Trudeau kept things classic in a black suit with a crisp white shirt. At one point, the couple turned toward each other, leaned in and touched foreheads while they laughed. Honestly, it was a lot.

Perry has been dropping hints about this love for a while now. During a recent livestream on Stationhead, Perry gushed over Trudeau, saying he makes her “so happy” and admitted he has her “giggling like a school girl.” She also leaned into a fan-favorite nickname: “Yeah, he is our Trudaddy… talk about the love of my life,” she said.

The relationship apparently has done wonders for both of them. Sources close to Trudeau say the former PM is a changed man. “He is a much happier person now,” a source told People. “Stresses are greatly diminished. And he is intrigued with Katy. They have fun together, laugh a lot, talk about everything.”

The insider added: “His life is much improved, and his relationship with Katy has had a lot to do with it.”

Another source noted, “Katy didn’t expect to fall for somebody so soon, but Justin checks all the boxes. He has a great sense of humor, he’s charming and treats her with respect. Dating Justin is something she never saw coming, but she’s really enjoying this surprising life twist.”

Perry has also gotten close to Trudeau’s family. His son Xav, an aspiring musician, recently opened up about turning to Perry for guidance on his music. “When I’m really happy with a song [I] send it [to her],” Xav, 18, said while appearing on the Can’t Be Censored podcast. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”

Perry has also been doing some personal reflection lately. She described herself as “different” since entering her 40s, claiming her 20s were “for emotions,” her 30s helped her work through her feelings, while her 40s are for “not caring about them.”

She ended a nine-year relationship with Orlando Bloom in July 2025. Perry, mom to daughter Daisy, 5, with Bloom, has had many intimate date nights with Trudeau since then, including sharing a picture of herself holding his hand while walking the grounds at Coachella.

Perry said of her concert film, “This is very different than Part of Me. That was more of a documentary about my life, and this is really a concert experience at the highest level for the fans.”

That said, it’s hard to imagine anyone will be thinking about the film for long. The love story playing out in front of the cameras is giving main character energy all on its own.
