It sure looks as if the end days are coming as this year’s premiere elite fashion event, the Met Gala will be infiltrated by influencers and TikTok stars.

Page Six is reporting that the gala, which is scheduled for Sept. 13, 2021, this year’s event may lack its usual star power.

Sources told The New York Post that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen won’t be attending, as Brady will be in training with the Buccaneers. And while Met staple Sarah Jessica Parker is in town, filming her Sex and the City revival And Just like That…, she may be too busy attend, her usual date Andy Cohen revealed last week.

So who will be attending? A celebrity agent revealed to Page Six, “I’ve been told that a lot of influencers are on the guest list. I’ve heard that Facebook and Instagram have taken so many tables, and that’s put a lot of people off going, alongside the mask mandate.”

Since Facebook is not an influencer platform, this celebrity agent may not have their facts straight. That said, one publicist with A-list clients added: “Personally, I don’t think the Met is cool anymore … It’s gone from super prestigious to [being] full of influencers.”

According to Page Six, Addison Rae, a 20-year-old social-media star turned singer who boasts 82.5 million followers on TikTok and 38.6 million on Instagram is among the attendees. YouTuber Emma Chamberlain, who is 20 and dropped out of high school to vlog about her life for her 10.5 million subscribers, is also reportedly on the guest list.

The gala, which will take place at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Guests who attend must be fully vaccinated, and must also wear their masks indoors when not eating or drinking. The Post reports that due to COVID-19 mandates, Vogue editor-in-chief and event organizer Anna Wintour had to cut the guest list from 600 to 450.

Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Jennifer Lopez are a few of the big names that will actually be attending.

In May, it was confirmed that Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka, Billie Eilish, and Amanda Gorman are co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala, with Anna Wintour serving as honorary chair, along with Tom Ford and Adam Mosseri.
