During an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Matt Damon opened up about the behind-the-scenes details of his Dunkin' Super Bowl commercial, which featured his best friend Ben Affleck and football legend Tom Brady as the supergroup “The Dunkings.”
Despite being one of the most talked about commercials from the Super Bowl, Damon revealed that the commercial was not his idea. He also shared that the iconic line in the commercial, “Remember when I told you I would do anything for you? This is ‘anything,'” was actually something he said to Affleck during filming, which Affleck decided to leave in the final cut.
“I actually said that to him when we were filming,” Damon said, laughing. “And he just left it in.”
Throughout the interview, Damon expressed his deep admiration and long-term friendship with Affleck, calling him his “best friend” of “many, many years.”
The duo has been close since childhood and has worked together on several films, including Good Will Hunting, Dogma, and The Last Duel. They also produced and starred in Air, which was directed by Affleck.
