Angelina Jolie is done with Los Angeles, ‘Hollywood is not a healthy place’

Angelina Jolie is shedding light on her evolving perspective on Hollywood. In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Jolie boldly stated that if she were starting her career in today's era, she wouldn't choose to be an actress. While she expressed her love for theater, the expectations of being constantly public and sharing every aspect of one's life deter her from pursuing a career in Hollywood.

Growing up in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, Jolie never bought into the idea that it held significant importance. She shares, “I was never very impressed with it. I never bought into it as significant or important.” For Jolie, authenticity and genuine connections matter far more than the superficial world of Hollywood.

In a surprising revelation, Jolie also mentioned her plans to eventually leave Los Angeles and relocate to her home in Cambodia. She explains that this decision stems from the aftermath of her divorce, which restricted her freedom to live and travel as she once did. Seeking a healthier environment, Jolie emphasizes, “Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”

While navigating her personal life, Jolie admits that her social circle is not filled with Hollywood elites. Instead, her closest friends are refugees, highlighting her commitment to human rights and empathy for those who have experienced displacement. However, the closest people to her heart are her children. Jolie cherishes their presence and emphasizes the unique bond they share, stating, “They are the closest people to me and my life, and they're my close friends.”

Beyond her acting endeavors, Jolie is venturing into new creative territories. Not only is she working on a Maria Callas biopic, but she is also launching a fashion venture called Atelier Jolie. With her sights set on New York City, Jolie aims to bring her artistic vision to life in a physical space.
