Ayo Edebiri may have found herself in an interesting situation after insults she made regarding Jennifer Lopez resurfaced right before the two are scheduled to appear in the next episode of Saturday Night Live.

The next episode of SNL will feature the talented 28-year-old Ayo Edebiri as the host, accompanied by Jennifer Lopez as the musical guest. The two recently appeared in a promo clip with cast member Heidi Gardner for the upcoming show.

During the clip, Lopez expressed her excitement about Edebiri’s role on FX’s The Bear, saying, “I’m really excited; I love your show.” Edebiri responded sweetly, saying, “I love your everything.” However, it appears that Edebiri had previously made controversial comments about Lopez’s career in a podcast episode of The Welfare Queen in 2020.

During the podcast, Edebiri claimed that Lopez’s entire career was “one long scam,” asserting that the singer was not actually singing most of her songs. Edebiri claimed to have researched cases that proved Lopez’s lack of involvement in her music. She also questioned what Lopez was doing when she supposedly did not have time to record her songs.

As of press time, neither Edebiri nor Lopez has addressed the comments made in 2020. However, Edebiri has previously faced criticism for her reviews on the movie app Letterboxd. She defended her opinions by stating that she is a comedian who speaks her mind and respects the hard work that goes into the entertainment industry.

As of press time, neither Edebiri nor Lopez has addressed the past comments made by Edebiri. Regardless, the two will share the SNL stage, and audiences eagerly await what goes down.
