Ryan Reynolds made a subtle reference to the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni legal dispute during NBC’s SNL50: The Anniversary Special on Sunday.
The moment occurred in a Q&A segment featuring Saturday Night Live veterans Amy Poehler and Tina Fey fielding questions from celebrity attendees. The Deadpool actor was the second to participate, with Poehler and Fey initiating by inquiring about his well-being.

“Great… Why, what have you heard?” Reynolds responded anxiously, glancing around the room. Lively, seated beside her spouse, displayed visible surprise at the indirect mention, as cameras shifted to Poehler and Fey, who assured they were unaware of anything. Reynolds swiftly changed the subject, inquiring whether the material used for the coneheads in the iconic SNL sketch was consumable.
Watch the moment below:
“Based on that being made in 1975, I assume that they’re highly toxic,” Poehler replied. When he mentioned the possibility of “someone” taking some from backstage, they advised immediate medical attention.
The Q&A portion also featured appearances by Quinta Brunson, Fred Armisen, Tim Meadows, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Adam Driver, and others.

This marks the initial public acknowledgment by Reynolds and Lively regarding their legal conflict with the star and director of It Ends With Us. Lively and Baldoni have been engaged in ongoing litigation for months, stemming from a holiday-season dispute where Lively alleged Baldoni and other producers orchestrated a defamation campaign against her. Baldoni countered, asserting that Lively collaborated with the New York Times to damage his reputation following disagreements over the film’s final edit — and claimed she enlisted Reynolds to rewrite and assume control of the project.
The case is scheduled for court proceedings next year.
