Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere Nab Vogue Cover 34 Years After Parents Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere

Talk about Hollywood destiny coming full circle! Thirty-four years after supermodel Cindy Crawford and silver-screen icon Richard Gere broke the internet (if that was a thing back then) by posing together for the November 1992 cover of Vogue, their offspring are officially taking over the family fashion legacy.

In a full-circle moment, Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere have landed the coveted September 2026 cover of American Vogue. Photographed by Steven Meisel, the duo posed together to promote their starring roles in FX’s highly anticipated adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’s thriller, The Shards.

Despite their shared lineage and high-profile upbringing, the pair actually hadn’t met until they began preparing for the show. But Homer wasted no time addressing the giant elephant in the room when they first grabbed a drink at Los Feliz dive bar Ye Rustic Inn.

“Maybe it seems too on the nose,” Homer recalled in his joint interview with Vogue. “Twenty minutes into knowing each other, I was like, ‘Should we just acknowledge the fact that our parents were married?’ She was like, ‘Yeah. Cool.’ And that was it.”

For anyone who needs a quick 1990s pop-culture history refresher, Crawford and Gere were one of the ultimate power couples of their era. They tied the knot in a whirlwind Las Vegas ceremony in 1991 before calling it quits in 1995. Both stars eventually remarried and built new families—Cindy with nightlife mogul Rande Gerber, and Richard with actress Carey Lowell.

Fast forward to 2026, and their children are commanding the spotlight side by side. Co-created by Ryan Murphy and Bret Easton Ellis, The Shards follows a group of wealthy, privileged Los Angeles teenagers navigating sex, drugs, and a sinister serial killer in 1981. Gerber stars as class president and golden girl Susan Reynolds, while Gere plays the dark, mysterious newcomer Robert Mallory.

Stepping into the Hollywood machine comes with its fair share of scrutiny, and Kaia was quick to offer her co-star some real talk about navigating the infamous “nepo baby” label.

“I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and I’ve only ever benefited in my career from it,” Kaia admitted with total honesty. “But I also find myself doing it to other nepo babies, thinking, like, ‘Okay, show me why you deserve this job.'”

Having grown up in front of the camera, Kaia knew that audiences and critics would be watching Homer closely as he took on his first major leading role.

“I said to Homer—because the concept is daunting to him, having lived as an adult so far without that perception, whereas I sort of went through it when I wasn’t fully sentient—I said to him, ‘Homer, unfortunately with this show, it’s not like you’re just any unknown actor and people will judge you as an unknown actor. But what that’s done for me is make me want to work harder,'” Gerber explained.

Rather than shrinking under the weight of their famous parents’ shadows, both actors are using the extra pressure as motivation. With a major Vogue cover already under their belts and The Shards generating serious buzz, this second-generation Hollywood dynasty is proving they have plenty of staying power of their own.
