Marc Jacobs knew almost instantly that he wanted Kaia Gerber on the cover of Vogue. โ€œIn a sea of chaos, itโ€™s quite calming to be with Kaia,โ€ he says. โ€œShe doesnโ€™t get involved in the drama. And itโ€™s not because sheโ€™s better than, or that she has any sort of arrogance. Itโ€™s none of that. Sheโ€™s just that person.โ€ย

Kaia Gerber talks to novelist Dana Spiotta about her book club, breaking new ground in her acting career, and what itโ€™s like to be underestimated.

Kaia Gerber on her seemingly unassuming demeanor:

โ€œIโ€™ve always been quite mild-tempered. My family called me the easy one. I didnโ€™t need anything. And I kind of prided myself on not having big feelings.โ€ But she loves characters in novels and plays who express intense emotions. They are โ€œa reminder that you can have these feelingsโ€ฆ. I didnโ€™t always feel like there was space for it, to be honest. I was always so aware of how privileged I grew upโ€ฆ. Everything that happened to me, I thought, But thereโ€™s so much worse happening to other people. And that perspective, while good to have, can also be damaging if you donโ€™t take your own pain seriously.โ€
