Britney Spears wrote a scathing rebuke of her mom in a Tuesday Instagram post, pushing back on Lynne Spears’ attorneys claims that the Spears family matriarch helped end the conservatorship.
Attorneys for Lynne Spears filed court documents Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court to petition Britney’s estate for over $600K to help cover legal expenses from Lynne’s attempts to end her daughter’s arrangement, the documents state.
The filing suggests that Lynne Spears deserves partial credit for the removal of Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, as the pop icon’s conservator.
“Lynne and her counsel submit that they have contributed to and achieved Lynne’s mission of breaking the restrictions imposed by the conservatorship, removing Jamie as conservator and have pushed toward the goal of ultimately terminating the entire conservatorship,” the lawyers wrote in the petition, according to BuzzFeed News.
The court documents also state that Britney Spears “enthusiastically agreed” to Lynne’s assistance and that her mother’s efforts allowed the singer greater freedoms, including taking a vacation to Turks and Caicos, Entertainment Tonight reports.
After the petition was filed, Britney Spears took to Instagram to blast her mom, telling fans that Lynne “secretly ruined” her life.
“My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago, but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea,” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram caption.
She added, “So take your whole ‘I have NO IDEA what’s going on’ attitude and go f**k yourself.”
The recent development in the Britney Spears conservatorship saga comes after Jamie Spears in September filed to end the controversial agreement, which has been in place since 2009.
