Chris Pine is setting the record straight on the viral video from last year that appeared to show Harry Styles spitting on him during the premiere of their movie Don’t Worry Darling at the Venice Film Festival.
In an interview with Esquire for their March cover story, the actor said that no one spat on anyone, without offering a direct quote on the matter.

Last September, a video went viral showing Styles walking into a row of seats at a screening for the movie, avoiding eye contact with co-star Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde, who was his director and girlfriend at the time.
Chris pine just wondered where his sunglasses were after the applause. And he zoned out (likes he’s been doing all day) and realised it’s in his lap. So I am sorry to say harry styles did not spit on him. pic.twitter.com/7b4GoCvnHJ

Appearing on Esquire’s video segment Explain This, Pine puts it plainly, “Harry did not spit on me.”
Pine went on to clarify further, stating, “Harry is a very kind guy. I think Harry leaned down and said, ‘It’s just words isn’t it?’ We had this little joke. We were all jet-lagged and trying to answer questions, and sometimes when you’re doing these press things, your brain goes befuddled, and you start speaking gibberish, so we had a joke: ‘It’s just words.’”
