Claudia Conway, the daughter of former White House advisor Kellyanne Conway, will perform on the upcoming season of American Idol according to a new commercial that aired during Monday night’s (Feb. 08, 2021) broadcast of The Bachelor.
The 16-year-old became a major social media presence last year when she began openly voicing her disdain for her mother’s employer and her conservative politics. Over the past year, Conway has offered often-strained snippets of her life with her parents.
In November, Conway shared that she was auditioning for the show via TikTok, and posted a lip-sync video with her father, George Conway, founder of the anti-Trump conservative group The Lincoln Project.
In her latest TikTok, she confirmed to her 1.7 million followers that her audition would air on Sunday, February 13 and American Idol confirmed to Insider that she would be a part of the season premiere.
“I know that half the world sees me as a joke because of my parents and whatever bullshit. I’m just a 16-year-old with passions, and you know, trying to figure out the future. This is a really good opportunity. A really fucking cool opportunity that I went with immediately, because if American Idol reaches out to you, you don’t say no,” she said.
Conway made headlines in January after posting a series of videos appearing to show her mother yelling at her, insulting her and seemingly hitting her on TikTok. At the time, Conway said Kellyanne was “physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive.” Conway has occasionally posted about her disagreements with her mother on the social media platform.
Then on Jan. 26, 2021, Kellyanne Conway allegedly posted a topless photo of her daughter to her Twitter Fleets. When alerted to the post, Claudia Conway confirmed it was an image of her. “I’m assuming my mom took a picture of it to use against me one day and then somebody hacked her or something,” the 16-year-old posted. “I’m literally at a loss for words.”
American Idol returns Sunday, Feb. 14 at 8/7c on FOX.
