Shortly after the FBI nabbed a guy toting an AK-47 near Mar-a-Lago, Elon Musk fired off a post on X that he'd soon wish he hadn't.

“And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/ Kamala 🤔,” Musk wrote in a tweet he later took down.

It was the kind of knee-jerk reaction many of us might blurt out online when shocking news breaks. The sort of thoughtless comment anyone could make in the heat of the moment. But Musk isn't just anyone. He's got government deals filling his pockets and a security clearance to boot. This type of post could easily cost someone their clearance if it came up during a review.

For Musk, it was all in good fun. “Well, one lesson I've learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn't mean it's going to be all that hilarious as a post on 𝕏,” he explained later. “Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don't know the context and the delivery is plain text.”

Musk knows exactly what he's doing and knows what he posted was not a joke, as he has no sense of humor.
