NBC announced on Wednesday, June 5, that Adam Levine will be making his return to the iconic red chairs for season 27 of The Voice, set to air in spring 2025. This marks Levine’s comeback to the popular singing competition show six years after his departure in 2019. Joining him for the first time as a coach will be country music star Kelsea Ballerini.

Levine and Ballerini will join Michael Bublé and John Legend in the coaching lineup. This new panel follows the season 26 lineup featuring Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, and Gwen Stefani.

In May 2019, Levine, the frontman of Maroon 5, penned a heartfelt essay to announce his exit from The Voice after 16 successful seasons. Levine first appeared on the show on April 26, 2011, and led three contestants to victory over his eight-year tenure.

“About eight years ago, [executive producer] Mark Burnett convinced us to sign up for this show where you sit in a big red chair with your back turned away from the singers on the stage,” Levine wrote on Facebook at the time. “First thank you must go to Mark. We had no idea what we were doing or where it was going. After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself, ‘There’s some magic here. Something is definitely happening.’ It went on to be a life-shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever.”

Levine briefly returned to The Voice in 2023 for a performance after Maroon 5 released “Middle Ground,” the band’s first single since 2021.

Ballerini is no stranger to The Voice herself, having served as a battle advisor for season 16 and filled in as a coach for Team Kelly during season 20.
