Jacob Elordi is stepping up to honor his late on-screen father. The Euphoria star will co-narrate the official audiobook for Eric Dane‘s posthumous autobiography, My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments.
Elordi shares narration duties with Maria Shriver for the November 3 release. Dane wrote the intensely personal book before his February 2026 death from ALS complications at age 53.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” his family stated earlier this year.
Dane and Elordi shared a tight bond while playing the volatile Cal and Nate Jacobs on the hit HBO series. Before his passing, Dane praised Elordi’s professionalism. “Jacob and I have a pretty profound amount of respect for each other off set,” Dane told TooFab.

“He’s a really great person,” Dane added. “He’s a super committed actor, which allows us to sort of talk craft here and there.”
The upcoming memoir pulls zero punches regarding Dane’s personal and professional hurdles. He discusses his exit from Grey’s Anatomy, noting he had simply “become too expensive” for the network. He also writes candidly about his past addiction battles.
Mostly, the book addresses the rapid, brutal reality of ALS. Shriver, who published the memoir through her imprint, praised Dane’s transparency. “He used his voice to let the world know what it was like living with ALS,” Shriver said.
Dane’s primary motivation for writing the book was deeply personal. “He told me he wanted his family to know how much he loved them, and he wanted to leave them a story they could be proud of,” Shriver explained.
The text includes terrifying accounts of Dane’s physical decline. In one emotional excerpt, Dane describes a 2024 vacation in Antigua where he suddenly lost the ability to swim. His teenage daughter, Georgia, had to physically pull him from the water to prevent him from drowning.

This near-fatal incident forced Dane to confront his rapidly changing body. Following the rescue, Dane called his estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart. According to the book, the two sobbed together over the phone while processing his irreversible physical limitations.
Despite the harsh reality of his diagnosis, Dane kept his loved ones close. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” his family confirmed.
Elordi’s narration ensures Dane’s final words reach the audience that stood by him. Dane never forgot his supporters during his illness. As his family noted, “Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received.”
