Jada Pinkett Smith and her daughter Willow Smith got candid in a new episode of their Facebook talk show Red Talk Table. In a clip from the Wednesday, March 31, 2021, episode of the talk show, the mother-daughter duo discussed them being sexually attracted to women.
“I love being amongst women, but I never could connect to women romantically,” Pinkett-Smith said. Pinkett Smith's comment came at the start of the episode before she and cohosts Adrienne Banfield Norris (her mother) and Willow Smith (her daughter) had a conversation with actress Niecy Nash, who has two ex-husbands and is now married to Jessica Betts.
“I've had my fair share of swooning and being like, ‘Oh my God, she's so beautiful. She's so talented,' ” admitted Willow. Her mom responded that she could actually see the 20-year-old singer “falling in love with a woman one day.”
Despite that, Willow mentioned that she wouldn't date a woman anytime soon. “I don't feel like I've been in love with a woman just yet, but I definitely feel like it could happen, because I've had very strong feelings for women before.”
Pinkett Smith, 49, married Hollywood star Will Smith in 1997 and, alongside Willow, they have a son, the actor Jaden, who is 22.
In July 2019, Pinkett Smith revealed she had a relationship with singer August Alsina during a time when she was separated from Smith.
Pinkett Smith denied Alsina’s claims that her husband had given him “permission.”
Reports of a relationship between the pair first arose in June 2019, after Alsina claimed he “gave years of his life” to a romance with the Girl’s Trip actress during an interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee.
After initially denying the reports, the actor admitted to the relationship during an episode of Red Table Talk the following month.
At the time, Pinkett Smith said she and her husband have now reached a place of “unconditional love.”
