Jennifer Garner‘s first Comic-Con San Diego experience took an unexpected turn. The 52-year-old actress, who returned as Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine, attended the event on Saturday, July 27, 2024, to promote the action flick and join a panel with her costars.
However, as shown in a series of Instagram videos, her plans hit a snag when she got stuck in an elevator with others at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego in California.
Garner shared seven videos, each with a timestamp, capturing key moments of the incident. According to the post, first responders finally arrived after an hour and 12 minutes.
“Hey guys, um, we're suck on this elevator,” Garner said in a clip two minutes into the ordeal. “I could use a Wolverine, I could use a Deadpool, I could use someone,” she added, saying she'd opt for stairs next time. “Thanks for having us here. My first Comic-Con.”
At the 11-minute mark, the Family Switch star, dressed in a floral top and jeans, commented: “It's toasty, I'm sphitzy, I need to blot.” She jokingly told the camera, “Don't cut the blue wire is what we're hearing.”
By 41.5 minutes, the Juno actress was leading her group in a rendition of “99 Bottles of Beer.” (An elevator attendant, a man in a suit, and her team members were present off-camera, but no one else joined in the singing.)
“We're 45 minutes in. We're calling 9-1-1,” Garner whispered to the camera in the fifth clip, which showed people with their phones out. When someone mentioned they were in San Diego, she whispered, “I thought we were in Vegas.”
An hour into the ordeal, the elevator started beeping, lights came on, and Garner began singing Madonna's “Like a Prayer.”
At 1 hour and 12 minutes, Garner's eyes widened with excitement as she realized first responders had arrived, prompting cheers from everyone.
The mother of three reprised her Marvel character Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine nearly two decades after starring in Elektra in 2005. She first played the heroine in 2003's Daredevil opposite her ex-husband Ben Affleck, whom she pokes fun at in the new film.
