Hollywood’s favorite pastime is rewriting history, but ‘s new memoir, Bloodlines, just offered a masterclass in conspiratorial sour grapes.

Manganiello claims he had the title role in Amazon’s hit series firmly in his grasp. That is, until an invisible Hollywood hand supposedly snatched it away.

His team’s prime suspect? None other than , acting out of a two-decade-old romantic grudge.

In the tell-all, Manganiello writes (per Page Six) that his camp explicitly theorized Cruise “vetoed my being cast on account of Sofía.”

Yes, that Sofía Vergara. Cruise reportedly dated Vergara way back in 2005. That high-profile fling occurred nearly ten years before she ever married Manganiello.

According to the True Blood actor, his path to playing the hulking vigilante began brilliantly. He sat down with Skydance producer Don Granger for an hour and a half to discuss the part.

During that fateful meeting, they apparently commiserated over the intense fan backlash to Cruise’s infamous 5-foot-7 portrayal of the imposing 6-foot-5 character.

Granger allegedly heaped on the praise. “You are the closest thing to Jack Reacher that I’ve ever met in my entire life,” Manganiello recalls Granger saying.

The flattery certainly didn’t stop there. “You look like Reacher is described in the books,” Granger reportedly gushed, adding, “You have his effortless intelligence.”

Manganiello was instantly convinced the deal was done. Showrunner Nick Santora supposedly agreed and began developing the series specifically with Manganiello in mind.

He also claims Skydance owner David Ellison and original Reacher author Lee Child were entirely “thrilled with my performance.”

Then the narrative shifts violently from a triumphant casting-couch story to a corporate blame game.

Manganiello blames Amazon boss Jen Salke for the first roadblock. He alleges she was furious over being intentionally excluded from the casting process by a group of “primarily male producers.”

After a subsequent screen test to smooth things over, the actor received the crushing news that he had lost the role. , who currently stars in the wildly popular series, snagged the lucrative gig instead.

Rather than accepting standard Hollywood rejection, Manganiello’s team floated a much juicier excuse. They aggressively suggested Cruise, who serves as an executive producer on the television show, put the ultimate kibosh on the casting.

As Manganiello frames it, Cruise torpedoed his leading-man moment purely out of petty spite over Vergara.

It’s a massive accusation tucked neatly inside a sensational book tour meant to spill details about his recent divorce and past health struggles.

Of course, Manganiello admits he has absolutely no definitive proof that Cruise actually intervened.

But when you’re trying to sell copies of your new memoir, throwing a global action star under the bus is a pretty solid marketing strategy.

As one astute online commenter noted on the initial report, this entire conspiracy theory “certainly was a REACH if I never heard one.” Another bluntly dismissed the whining: “Isn’t he a chatty Kathy.”
