Johnny Depp has filed a 50 million dollars defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife and actor Amber Heard for accusing him of domestic violence in an article.
According to The Blast, the 55-year-old actor’s lawsuit is his response to Heard’s Washington Post op-ed that she wrote last year, in which she claimed to be a victim of abuse.
“Ms. Heard is not a victim of domestic abuse, she is a perpetrator,” says the suit, while calling the allegations against Depp as “hoax.”
Heard “purported to write from the perspective of ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse' and claimed that she ‘felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out' when she ‘spoke up against sexual violence,'” Depp’s lawyers stated in the lawsuit.
Depp and Heard’s tumultuous marriage lasted from February 2015 to May 2016. According to People’s timeline, Heard and Musk were first linked sometime in 2016, broke up in August 2017, and rekindled their romance for about a month starting in January 2018.

Eric M. George, Heard’s attorney, responded to the lawsuit with a statement.
“This frivolous action is just the latest of Johnny Depp’s repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard,” said George.
“She will not be silenced. Mr. Depp’s actions prove he is unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behavior. But while he appears hell-bent on achieving self destruction, we will prevail in defeating this groundless lawsuit and ending the continued vile harassment of my client by Mr. Depp and his legal team.”
In May 2016, Heard filed for a domestic violence restraining order against Depp after claiming he had abused her. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star denied the claim.
In August 2016, the two settled their divorce out of court, and Heard donated her $7 million settlement to charity.
