Jonathan Bailey just traded his Bridgerton polish for full art-school heartthrob, and the internet needs a minute.
The Bridgerton and Wicked star arrived at Chelsea College of Arts in London on September 21, 2026 with shaggy, curly bangs that fell down towards his nose for Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2027 show. Gone: the gel. Here: a fringe with opinions about vinyl.
He committed head to toe. The Wicked heartthrob paired his new hairstyle with an all-black ensemble, including chunky leather trousers and biker-style boots.
Then came the shades. He also introduced a new pair of round sunglasses, akin to his viral, internet-dubbed “slutty little glasses.”
Hello! said the tiny frames “wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Emerald City.” Fitting, for the man who played Fiyero.
The vibe tracked with the venue. British Vogue said creative director Daniel Lee “took guests back to art school” and Bailey dressed as he’d enrolled for freshers’ week.
The front row was stacked. Joe Locke, Fiona Shaw, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jason Statham, Gemma Chan, Jodie Turner-Smith and Romeo Beckham all showed up. The bangs still won.
Not everyone was sold. One London Fashion Week worst-dressed roundup singled out Bailey’s bold leather trousers. The hair escaped unscathed.
Burberry loyalty checks out, too. He’s not an official brand ambassador yet, but he fronted the label’s Spring trench campaign in March alongside Teyana Taylor, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jack Draper.
The timing is interesting. The appearance came shortly after he withdrew from the planned West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican, which had been scheduled for summer 2027.
And the reinvention feels personal. Last year’s Sexiest Man Alive told People confidence doesn’t always come easy.
“At various moments in my life I’ve been like, ‘I’ve got this,'” he said, adding that the feeling can come with fear and self-doubt.
His take on growing up? “We’re all sort of trying to get back to the origin, aren’t we?”
