Kid Rock created an awkward moment when he left a reporter at a loss for words after telling her “you sound sexy” during a live broadcast.
The musician, whose legal name is Robert James Ritchie, was interviewed by the BBC before Donald Trump‘s inauguration ceremony.
Kid Rock joined numerous other celebrities gathering in Washington, D.C. for various inauguration celebrations, including his scheduled performance at a victory rally on Sunday.
During a live segment around 8:15 a.m. EST, he engaged in conversation with BBC journalist Caitríona Perry, inquiring about her location and activities in the city.

“Well, I’m standing on a rooftop in these very, very chilly conditions and we’ll be on air for 11 or 12 hours. So I don’t think I’ll have it anywhere near as fun a day as you have planned for yourself,” she told the rocker. “It sounds like you got the better deal there, indeed.”
The musician took a drag from his cigar before commenting to Perry: “I mean, I can’t see you right now. So I don’t know what you look like.”
“I look like I’m ready to hit the slopes,” she said. “I’m in full-on ski gear here with my gloves, the whole thing ready to rock because you’ve got to be wrapped up against the elements, don’t you?”

“I love to go skiing,” Kid Rock responded while flirting with Perry. “You sound sexy, you want to go with me?”
Perry momentarily struggled to respond before regaining her professional composure.
“Well, we won’t get into that right here, so we’re doing no skiing today. We’ve got a day of broadcasting to do,” she stated before expressing gratitude for his time.
“God bless,” Kid Rock concluded with a smile.

During their conversation, Kid Rock disclosed that he had maintained sobriety throughout January in preparation for the inauguration. He also informed Perry about his plans to visit the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., post-inauguration to propose Canada’s inclusion as the 51st U.S. state.
Jake Kanter, a Deadline reporter, shared the exchange on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
“I see a day of potentially wild TV moments has started early. Within minutes of appearing on BBC News, Kid Rock’s interview descends into him hitting on host Caitríona Perry,” Kanter wrote in his post.
Social media users on X expressed their reactions to the musician’s forward remarks.
“Kid Rock flirting on BBC News is some of the most awkward television you’ll see this year,” posted BBC reporter Scott Bryan.
“I can’t believe I just listened to Kid Rock just perv over a journalist on the BBC, gotta be one of the most awkward things I’ve listened to in years,” shared @james_exbf.
“Why are the @BBCnews allowing cretins like Kid Rock on to lie unchecked and hit on news presenters?? A symptom of the decaying political leadership indeed,” stated @mattiriz.
