Pop icon Mariah Carey shared some heartbreaking news recently. Her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, both passed away on the same day. Patricia was 87 years old, while Alison was 63.

Carey told People magazine: “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”

The singer felt grateful she could spend time with her mom in her final days. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she added.

The exact causes of their deaths weren’t revealed. People reported that Carey’s relationships with both family members were sometimes complex.
