Pop icon Mariah Carey shared some heartbreaking news recently. Her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, both passed away on the same day. Patricia was 87 years old, while Alison was 63.

Carey told People magazine: โ€œMy heart is broken that Iโ€™ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.โ€

The singer felt grateful she could spend time with her mom in her final days. โ€œI appreciate everyoneโ€™s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,โ€ she added.

The exact causes of their deaths werenโ€™t revealed. People reported that Careyโ€™s relationships with both family members were sometimes complex.
