Former Suits actress Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, is no stranger to a red carpet.

But on Sunday (July 13, 2019), the duchess marked her first red carpet as a royal when she and Prince Harry attended the European premiere of The Lion King in London's Leicester Square.

Meghan, 37, dazzled the crowd in her Jason Wu black sheer panel dress while Harry, 34, donned a classic suit and bow tie.

They giggled and smiled as they walked down the specially designed yellow carpet and waved to well-wishers outside the Odeon Luxe.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were photographed greeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and video shared on social media shows Markle hugging Beyoncé and her hip-hop star husband at the film premiere.

According to the Daily Mail‘s royal correspondent Rebecca English, the two women and their husbands spoke briefly about their children.

“The baby, so beautiful,” Beyoncé said, about Harry and Meghan's newborn Archie. “We love you guys.”

“They are not here. They don’t come on every trip. We left them at home. They would loved to have been here,” Beyoncé replied.
