Michael B. Jordan‘s Miami Vice ’85 just added a Brooklyn plot twist nobody wrote into the script.
Police say Alex Perez, 23, ran across the set around 11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, packing what TMZ called a “huge butcher’s knife.”
He allegedly threatened a production staffer, prompting someone on set to call the NYPD.
TMZ‘s video shows a staffer walking Perez off set before he pulls the blade from his sweatshirt pocket. As he does, someone shouts, “He’s got a knife.”

A security officer on the production cuffed him at 11:17 p.m.
The NYPD’s version is a little less cinematic, describing a verbal dispute with another man near Avenue N and McDonald Avenue. Cops say the knife left that person “fearful for their safety.”
Perez now faces charges of second-degree menacing with a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He also reportedly has five prior arrests on alleged gang-related charges, including burglary and assault with a firearm.

Nobody was hurt, and the knife was recovered. The scare did, however, “shut down filming for the rest of the night.”
It’s unclear whether Jordan or Austin Butler, who play Tubbs and Crockett, were on set. Metro has reached out to Jordan’s reps.

Danger on a Miami Vice set is practically franchise tradition. During Michael Mann‘s shoot in Santo Domingo, a soldier guarding the production shot an armed man who fired several shots nearby, and Universal assured everyone “None of the film’s cast and crew was hurt.”
Joseph Kosinski‘s reboot promises to “explore the glamour and corruption of mid-80’s Miami.” Brooklyn apparently skipped straight past the glamour.

Filming kicked off this month in Wayne, N.J., before heading to New York, with Miami still to come. Miami Vice ’85 hits theaters May 19, 2028.
