Mike Tyson believes he will die โreally soonโ.
The 56-year-old former boxer has been reflecting on the subject of mortality and believes his own โexpiration dateโ isnโt too far away.
Speaking to therapist Sean McFarland โ who specialises in trauma and addiction โ on his โHotboxinโ with Mike Tysonโ podcast, he said: โWeโre all gonna die one day of course.
โThen, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, I say, โWow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.โโ
The ex-heavyweight champion โ who filed for bankruptcy in 2003 but is now worth an estimated $10 million โ insisted money isnโt important to him and it doesnโt bring the happiness and security that some people expect it to.
He said: โMoney donโt mean s*** to me.
โI always tell people โ they think moneyโs gonna make them happy, theyโve never had money before โ when you have a lot of money, you canโt expect nobody to love you. How am I gonna confess my love to you when you have $500 billion?
โThe false sense of security. You believe nothing can happen. You donโt believe the banks could collapse. You believe that youโre invincible when you have a lot of money, which isnโt true. Thatโs why I always say money is a false sense of security.โ
Mike told how he has conversations with his wife, Lakiha Spicer, where she says she wants more money to feel secure.
He questioned: โWhat is security? I donโt know. When you put money in your bank and you get a cheque every week and you can live for the rest of your life, is that security? That means you wonโt catch a disease, you canโt get hit by a car? You canโt jump off a bridge. I donโt know. Is that security? Can money secure you from that?โ
