Singer and actress Miley Cyrus has reportedly separated from her husband actor Liam Hemsworth after less than a year of marriage.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” a representative for Cyrus told People in a statement.”
“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”
“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
Fans will recall the pair first met in 2009 while filming The Last Song. They began dating shortly after and made their red carpet debut as a couple in 2010.
Interestingly enough, the “Mother’s Daughter” star shared an Instagram photo on Saturday sans her wedding ring. In fact, the longtime couple has sparked breakup rumors in recent weeks.
Last month, rumors swirled online that the two decided to call it quits. However, Cyrus slammed the haters on social media while also celebrating hers and Hemsworth’s milestone anniversary.
“Happy 10 year anniversary my love,” she wrote, alongside an article that touched on the split speculation. “Good to see everyone is as dumb as they were in 2009! Some things never change …. & I hope the way you feel about me is one of them. Yours truly.”
The singer previously told Vanity Fair magazine that she does not hold old-fashioned beliefs about marriage.
“The reason that people get married sometimes can be old-fashioned, but I think the reason we got married isn’t old-fashioned – I actually think it’s kind of New Age.
“A big part of my pride and my identity is being a queer person.
“What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I’m in love with exists on almost a spiritual level. It has nothing to do with sexuality.
“Relationships and partnerships in a new generation – I don’t think they have so much to do with sexuality or gender.”
“Sex is actually a small part, and gender is a very small, almost irrelevant part of relationships,” added Cyrus who has revealed that she is attracted to women.
