Molly Ringwald is finally spilling the tea on her small-screen days — and it’s not pretty.
The Pretty in Pink star sat down with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live this week for a round of “Spill the IMDb Tea,” where she was asked to rank her past projects on a scale of one to 10 based on how the experience actually felt behind the scenes.
When The Secret Life of the American Teenager came up, Ringwald didn’t hold back.
“The worst is one? OK, that was it. The worst,” she told Cohen, double-checking the scoring system before dropping the bomb.
The ABC Family drama, which ran from 2008 to 2013, cast Ringwald as the mother of Shailene Woodley‘s character, a teen navigating an unplanned pregnancy. Fans might assume the cast was the problem, but Ringwald was quick to clarify that wasn’t the case.
“It was hard, I mean, OK, I love the cast,” she said. “I love Shailene. There’s so many people that I worked with that… there was one person that was really difficult.”
That “one person” remains a mystery. “And I’m not gonna say who that one person is,” Ringwald added, “[but] they brought it down to a one.”
The cast alongside Ringwald and Woodley included Daren Kagasoff, Ken Baumann, Francia Raisa, Megan Park, Greg Finley, India Eisley, Mark Derwin and Steve Schirripa — leaving fans plenty of names to speculate over.
It’s a stark contrast to how Ringwald feels about her John Hughes glory days. When Pretty in Pink came up in the same game, she gave it the highest score possible.
“That was pretty great,” she gushed. “I’ll give that a 10. It was written for me. [John Hughes] wrote the movie for me and, you know, I actually have a collage that I made myself that’s in the bedroom.”
The 1986 film was the third of Ringwald’s collaborations with the late Hughes, following Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, and it’s clear the affection hasn’t faded.
As for who tanked her Secret Life experience, Ringwald isn’t naming names anytime soon — but the internet is already digging.
