Quick Drag: Utica and Plane Jane Sew Up the Project Runway Experience

2 Min Read

After her amazing looks (including that unforgettable sleeping bag look in season 13) and the runway looks she’s created for other Drag Race queens including Lexi Love, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Aura Mayari, Willow Pill and Miss Fiercalicious (in fact, Utica’s creations have been worn on the main stage every year since her original season), it was not a huge surprise to see Utica competing on season 21 of Project Runway.

While she made it very far, she didn’t emerge victorious, but she was able to show us so many fierce looks and established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world. It seems Utica walked so her fellow queens could run to Project Runway, as two Drag Race queens, Q and Plane Jane competed on season 22.

Sadly both were eliminated during the first challenge. Now, Plane Jane and Utica sit down to talk about their experiences on the show on the latest episode of Jane’s series, “Kudos for Spilling.” Utica discusses why she turned down competing on All Stars in order to go up against the top designers in the country and the pair talk about the pressure of the show, the judging and lots of behind-the-scenes tea.

If you’re a fan of Project Runway and a fan of these queens (and want to hear Utica’s spot-on imitation of Tim Gunn), don’t miss this video.
