You won't believe who almost made their way into the iconic world of Mean Girls! Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., the masterminds behind the movie musical remake of the hilarious 2004 comedy, spilled the tea on a potential star who could have had a spot in the Plastics.

In a recent interview published by The Hollywood Reporter, Jayne and Perez dished on making the new Mean Girls just one day after its highly-anticipated release. As the conversation veered towards memorable lines and comedic moments from the original flick, they revealed an exciting casting idea that had us shooketh.

“Picture this,” Jayne mused, “there are certain lines that have become so iconic, we couldn't dare touch them. Like ‘You go, Glen Coco!' It's a cultural phenomenon, it's what the people want! But then we asked ourselves, who the heck is Glen Coco anyway?”

That's when Perez chimed in, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “We had a wild thought… what if we cast Harry Styles?”

Yeah, you read that right! The former One Direction heartthrob himself was being considered for the role of Glen Coco. Can you imagine the frenzy that would have caused? We can already hear the screams of excitement from Directioners everywhere!

But wait, there's more! Jayne quickly added, “Then it hit us, let's break that fourth wall. What if we are all Glen Coco? Let's make everyone feel like they're part of this iconic moment, even after 20 years!”
The line is delivered straight to the camera in a hilarious twist, breaking through that cinematic barrier and giving viewers that extra sense of inclusion. Genius, right?

Fast forward to 2024, and we have the Mean Girls remake we've all been waiting for. Based on the Broadway musical adaptation of the original Tina Fey-penned film, this incarnation features the talented Reneé Rapp as Regina George and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron. And guess who's back? Tina Fey reprises her role as Ms. Norbury, while Tim Meadows returns as Mr. Duvall. Oh, and don't forget about Lindsay Lohan‘s epic cameo!

According to a box office report from The Hollywood Reporter, the film is set to dominate “the box office popularity contest” with an estimated four-day opening of $31.5 million over the long holiday weekend. That's so fetch!

So, while we may never see Harry Styles strutting the halls of North Shore High, we can still bask in the glory of Mean Girls and relish in the hilarity and quotability that has made it a cultural phenomenon. Who knows what other surprises this remake has in store for us? All we can say is, “You go, Glen Coco!”
