So, yeah, Drag Race Down Under vs The World is here, and while it has had a controversial second episode, I think it’s still worth a watch (if nothing but for my all-time favorite confessional queen, Atlanta’s own LaLa Ri.) If LaLa (and some other great queens) won’t entice you to watch, may I bring Courtney Act into the discussion?
Yes, our favorite singing, dancing queen and Big Brother competitor is here to share her thoughts on the season (with special guests) on Purse First Impressions. Purse First She-E-O Bob the Drag Queen joins Courtney to discuss the season premiere, and for two queens who truly are not overly familiar with the franchise (Courtney reveals that she hasn’t finished a season and Bob shares that he never finished a season), it’s still a fun look back at episode one (a/k/a the one before all hell broke loose).
Courtney and Bob talk about the show’s questionable production values (including drugstore-level lighting), the queens’ entrance looks and runway fashions, and lots more (including Aussie pronunciations, whether this season should be called Drag Race Over Yonder, debating whether Raven is technically a winner, and investigating Courtney’s alleged history with one of the season’s queen-testants.) There’s also a cameo from Lazy Susan, and if nothing else, you’re going to want to watch next week’s episode to see how Bob attempts to take back his comments about Raven competing on the series.
Who better to discuss this international season than Australia’s own crown jewel? I’m going to continue to watch along with Courtney, and you should too. #JusticeforNPB
